Official visit of the Ambassadors of the European Union to Fuzuli (02/11/2011)
On 31 October and 01 November 2011, the Ambassadors and representatives of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, United Kingdom and European Union Delegation made an official trip to Fuzuli as a part of the EU Ambassadors' initiative to visit the regions of Azerbaijan. The visit gave an opportunity for the EU Ambassadors to get familiarized with the situation on the line of contact, meet and discuss problems of the residents and Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs) living in the region.
"The visit gave us a first-hand experience of the situation existing on the line of contact, feel all the restrictions and difficulties experienced by the people living close to the contact line. With this visit we would like once again to reiterate the EU's willingness to contribute to the soonest peaceful resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and readiness to help with rehabilitation of the post-conflict areas and with building and maintaining confidence between the parties once the peace is reached", said Ambassador Roland KOBIA, on behalf of the Mission.
During the visit, the EU Ambassadors met with the Head of Fuzuli Executive Power, residents and IDPs located along the line of contact, observed military operations in the region and conducted meetings with the representatives of NGOs and private businessmen in Fuzuli.
