Fourth photography competition "New Egypt" (11/10/2011)
The Delegation of the European Union to Egypt is once more launching a new challenge for amateur photographers in Egypt to enter its fourth annual competition to find the best thirty photographs. This year's theme is "New Egypt". The winner will be awarded a prize of 1000 Euros and will be selected by a jury composed of several prominent experts. The second winner will be awarded a Digital SLR camera. A new special award has been established called "The Mohammed Hassan Award” for the photo that has the best journalistic skills in memory of the young photographer Mohammed Hassan. Mohamed Hassan was one the winners of the first photo competition organized by the Delegation.
The twelve winning photos will form the months of the specially produced 2012 calendar, which will be published by the Delegation of the European Union. The best thirty photos will be displayed for the public in an art gallery in Cairo (to be named), and will be included in the competition catalogue.
The deadline for the competition is November 14, 2011.
Contestants are invited to express their vision for Egypt in this most crucial time in the country's history. This current period offers a rich source of inspiration for photographers: the dreams, events, contradictions, frustrations, optimism and the search for a better future. In this fourth annual photography contest the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt anticipates that this year's photographs will collectively reflect and capture the essence of the "New Egypt".
All amateur photographers living in Egypt are invited to participate. This year's jury is made up of prominent photographers, media personalities and artists including
the photographers Randa Shaath and Khaled Dessouky, the TV Presenter, Reem Maged. The jury will be searching for the personal and diversified visions of photographers from all over Egypt.
The deadline for submitting photos for the competition is November 14, 2011. The full details of how to participate can be found on the website of the delegation
