Award ceremony for the winner of the Gender Equality Drawing Competition 2011 (17/02/2012)

The Delegation of the European Union in Eritrea organised on Friday 17 February an award ceremony for the winner of the Gender Equality Drawing Competition 2011.

The competition is organised by the European Commission for the 5th year in a row with the active support of the Ministry of Education. It was launched on the 8th March International Women's Day and it calls on the children from all over the world to engage in the efforts for more equality between women and men. The theme of 2011 competition was: "Once upon a time there were a girl and a boy, together they wanted to make the world a better place".

Twelve years old student from Bounaroti School, Abigail Alemnegash, is one of the 15 worldwide winner. She was invited to Brussels in November 2011 to attend a ceremony. On Friday she was awarded an amount of Euro 1000 by H. E. Marchel Gerrmann, Ambassador of the EU to Eritrea.
