
EU closes dumpsites for cleaner environment in Kosovo
Efforts to improve the environment in Kosovo have received a boost from an EU funded project which will close and rehabilitate eight uncontrolled dumpsites by the end of the year.
The European Commission has managed the works to clean and cover the dumpsites thus eliminating air, soil and water pollution in these areas. Now the areas have water drainage, ground water monitoring systems and bio-gas wells which will be covered by plants.  |

Young entrepreneurs rewarded for best business plans
20 young entrepreneurs received grants for the best business plans of young entrepreneurs at the Red Hall at the Youth and Sports Centre in Pristina. This is the first round of grants awarded through the EU funded project Apprentice Scheme links with Training for innovative Youth job – finding.

EC gives out prizes for children drawing competition
The EC Liaison Office organised an event in Prishtine/Pristina on 6th September to give out prizes for winners of 2011 children drawing competition. In the attendance of 300 children where a number of leisure activities took place, prizes for 10 Kosovo finalists were presented. Among them was Idrin Hajrullahu, one of 14 world wide winners of the 2011 EC Children Drawing Competition. This is the fifth year that the EC is organizing an international drawing competition on gender equality on the International Women's Day on 8th of March 2011.  |
