EC delivers grants to create hundreds of jobs in Kosovo

 The EC Liaison Office has awarded grants across Kosovo exceeding EUR 1.4 million which are expected to create 600 new jobs. The grants, part of EU funded project Beautiful Kosovo, were distributed across municipalities that have sent project proposals for improving the life of the citizens. 19 projects will mainly target the creation of green areas, preservation and restoration of cultural heritage, the renovation of sport and youth facilities, as well as public building facades.

The aim of EU- Beautiful Kosovo project is to identify small and medium scale projects in the municipalities that would aim to create jobs, especially for the young and marginalized groups and also result with an improved urban infrastructure. The second round of Call for Proposals will be announced in 2012, to which all municipalities will be invited to submit new applications for project proposals.More...

EU closes dumpsites for cleaner environment in Kosovo

Efforts to improve the environment in Kosovo have received a boost from an EU funded project which will close and rehabilitate eight uncontrolled dumpsites by the end of the year.

The European Commission has managed the works to clean and cover the dumpsites thus eliminating air, soil and water pollution in these areas. Now the areas have water drainage, ground water monitoring systems and bio-gas wells which will be covered by plants. More...

 

Young entrepreneurs rewarded for best business plans

20 young entrepreneurs received grants for the best business plans of young entrepreneurs at the Red Hall at the Youth and Sports Centre in Pristina. This is the first round of grants awarded through the EU funded project Apprentice Scheme links with Training for innovative Youth job – finding.

EC gives out prizes for children drawing competition

The EC Liaison Office organised an event in Prishtine/Pristina on 6th September to give out prizes for winners of 2011 children drawing competition. In the attendance of 300 children where a number of leisure activities took place, prizes for 10 Kosovo finalists were presented. Among them was Idrin Hajrullahu, one of 14 world wide winners of the 2011 EC Children Drawing Competition. EU support new high security prison in Kosovo

Works at the site of the new high security prison has started late July in Gërdoc/Grdovac in Podujevë/Podujevo region. The European Commission will ensure that security and building technology will be those of European standards. Works will be carried on in a period of 33 months in a project financed jointly by the European Commission with 8,5 million Euros, whereas the remaining part, 6 million Euros will be allocated by the Government of Kosovo. Kosovo finds out results of EU Higher Education Programme TEMPUS IV

The EC Liaison Office with the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology announced beginning of August results of the recent call for proposals of the EU Tempus programme – an EU funding programme for higher education. Out of 22 project proposals, 5 projects have been selected for Tempus funding. The winning projects involve the new University of Prizren, Pristina University, Mitrovica University, as well as regional and European cooperation.
