Laying of the Foundation Stone for the Palace of Justice (23/06/2011)
The main judicial institutions of Kosovo will have a new home. With the financial support from the EC, Kosovo will have a Palace of Justice to offer modern, functional working space to 12 main judicial institutions. Mr Khaldoun Sinno, Acting Head of the EC Liaison Office, Mr Kjartan Björnsson, Head of Operations, EC Liaison Office to Kosovo, together with the Kosovo President Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, Prime Minister, Mr Hashim Thaçi, have layed the foundation stone for the Palace of Justice.
On this occasion, Mr Sinno said:
"This palace of justice will provide much needed modern working conditions for judges, prosecutors and workers of the justice system. But improved infrastructure is only one part of the EU efforts to help Kosovo, just think of the successful vetting and re-appointment process we jointly completed some time ago. When we come back in two years time to inaugurate the palace of justice, we want to see a splendid building but also a strong judiciary that makes use of it. In this palace, justice should be king."
