11 January 2013 - A working lunch between the World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Ertharin Cousin and EU Member States accredited to the United Nation WFP was held

The meeting, convened by the Head of the EU Delegation, represented an occasion to discuss the cooperation between WFP and EU on the main subjects they are working on and to update on the major current crises WFP is dealing with in the field, including the situation in the Sahel and the crises in Syria, Central African Republic and Mali. Cooperation with the other United Nations Rome-based Agencies, the post-2015 and the gender policy were also discussed.

On 8 November 2012, Maria Damanaki, European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, was in Rome for a series of meetings with high-level personalities and organisations on key fisheries issues.

Commissioner Damanaki met FAO Director-General Mr Graziano da Silva and the staff of the Organisation. The main items of discussion were cooperation issues between FAO and the European Union in the fight against IUU (Illegal, Unreported, Unregulated) fishing, port state measures, joint actions in the Mediterranean and Black Sea (including FAO projects supported by the EU) and aquaculture.
