Government Urges European Union to play Positive Role in Crisis with South (28/01/2012)

(Citizen) At the meeting he held with the under secretary for  Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rahamtaullah Mohamed Osman yesterday, the European Union Ambassador to Khartoum, Tomas Ulicny, reviewed the decisions of the EU Foreign Ministers Council that concluded its functions in Brussels regarding developments in relations between Sudan and South Sudan and the ongoing talks between the on settlement of post separation issues, developments in the State of South Kordofan and the Blue Nile and the implementation of the Doha Agreement for Darfur Peace.  Ambassador Ulicny renewed the EU commitment to promoting relations with Sudan.  The meeting also discussed the present and future projects extended by the EU.   He further expressed the EU appreciation for the steps taken by the government regarding arrangements for humanitarian conditions in the two States of South Kordofan and Blue Nile, expressing his hope that more steps would be taken in that respect.  Ambassador Rahmatullah for his part affirmed Sudan keenness on upgrading relations with South Sudan and arriving to solutions for the contested issues.
