Higlig Attack Aimed at Distorting Sudan Image (04/04/2012)

(Sudan Vision) President Omer Al Bashir, has said that what the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) did in Higlig recently is an attempt by western countries to distort the image of the Sudan. He said Sudan is keen to realize peace in the region but without compromising its territories and resources, citing the economic reforms Sudan has introduced recently which did not please the west. The President underlined the need for the economic policies to be accompanied by good practices and fair gain in order to achieve the desired economic renaissance. Addressing yesterday the inaugural session of meetings of the Board of Commissioners of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Al Bashir said the Islamic world is in a position to form an economic strength if political will prevails. He said the concept of development is founded on fair distribution, balance in partnership and equal opportunities, adding the challenge now is how to achieve independent development. Ali Mahmoud, the Sudanese Minister of Finance and National Economy, also spoke about the efforts being exerted by the Islamic Development Bank to reduce poverty and unemployment in collaboration with regional and international institutions, adding that Sudan is witnessing major flow of foreign investments which helped it to overcome recession.
