The ENP package presented today, by Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Commission Vice-President and Štefan Füle, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, assesses the first year of implementation of the new approach. The EU starts New project to support Reforms in Energy sector of Ukraine

The European Union and Ukraine continue cooperation in implementation of the measures agreed in the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, including the implementation of the road map agreed under the Energy Memorandum of Understanding in these areas. Currently one of the major tasks on the agenda is to set up an appropriate institutional framework to sustain implementation of such measures in the long term. To contribute to setting up of such institutional framework the EU launched new technical assistance project as part of the Sector Policy Support Programme (SPSP) signed by the EU and Ukraine in December 2009.

Connecting Europe is the goal of the Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg for Good Governance of the Robert Bosch Stiftung – a three-week international professional development program for young executives from the public sector (public administration, public companies, non-profit organizations, etc.) from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.

The European Union has provided € 1.55 million of its assistance to the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (ITU) with the aim of improving efficiency of Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies in their efforts to protect and safeguard rights and freedoms of citizens.

The Twinning project "Contribution to improvement of the system of public order protection by the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine" will assist structural reforms of the Ukrainian law-enforcement through introduction of the best European and world practices, thus strengthening the Rule of Law in Ukraine.

The Member State consortium, which implements the twinning project, consists of France and Romania. The twinning offers a diverse mix of EU expertise, both from a "new" EU member state as well as the one with long established law-enforcement traditions.
