Two EU-backed films were honored at the Berlinale International Film Festival (20/02/2012)
Two films supported by the European Union's MEDIA programme – the initiative aiming at supporting the European film industry and audiovisual sector – have been honored at the closing ceremony of the Berlinale International Film Festival.
“A Royal Affair” directed by Nikolaj Arcel won two Silver Bear awards for Best Script and Best Actor.
“L’enfant d’en haut/Sister” by Ursula Meier received a special Silver Bear award and the film “Tabu” by Miguel Gomes obtained the FIPRESCI International Film Critics award.
“European films are among the best in the world”, said Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, adding that she is proud that the MEDIA programme has been able to support so many great film projects this year.
The 62nd Berlinale International Film Festival was held from 9 to 19 February. In total 18 EU-supported films were screened at the festival. More information
