On May 9th, for the first time ever, the EU Delegation to Bolivia plans on moving the celebration to a different region. The EU Delegation to Libya is organising a public discussion on three of the EU Human Rights Guidelines: HR Defenders, Violence against woman and girls and combatting all forms of discrimination against them and Torture and other cruel or degrading treatment or punishment. The Italian Cultural Institute in Tripoli, in collaboration with the EU Delegation to Libya, is organizing a Jazz Concert, within the Framework of the EU Funded project "Libya Meets Europe". The concert will have two components: traditional Libyan music and European Jazz.

A grand concert paying tribute to Greek music on 9 May at 20:00 in Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, organised by the EU Delegation to Iceland and EU Info Centre in Reykjavík, to celebrate the Europe Day and the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Guests will be invited to learn about and enjoy the music of the esteemed Greek composer Nikos Skalkottas (1904 – 1949), performed by the Icelandic music ensemble CAPUT, the world renowned Australian pianist Geoffrey Douglas Made and Thora Einardsdóttir, one of Iceland´s most beloved opera singer.
In the second half of the concert the Greek folk music band Prinkipessa Orchestra will play music by the Greek folk music composer Vasilis Tsitsanis (1915 – 1984). The concert is free but tickets must be reserved. The EU Delegation to Swaziland has collaborated with MTN Bushfire, Swaziland's biggest annual arts festival, to run an EU photo competition for young people.
The competition was launched on 10 April 2014 and the prizes will be presented during the Bushfire festival to be held on 31 May – 1 June 2014. The Canberra International Music Festival is presenting a series of concerts entitled “The Fire and the Rose” from 9 – 18 May. This year's festival explores the centenary of the commencement of World War I and the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II through the works of composers who wrote while serving as soldiers on all sides.
The EU Delegation to Australia is presenting the opening concert and hosting a reception, as well as sponsoring “The Christmas Truce” concert on May 16. Collaborative concerts are also presented by a number of Member States represented in Canberra.
In the lead up to the concert program, a series of radio programs featuring the EU and MS Ambassadors is broadcast.

The EU Delegation to Venezuela is organising an European Forest Maintenance activity at the Zoological park of Caricuao in Caracas.
UEMS will also take part of this activity if it is approved by the park authorities. In 2009 more than 3000 trees were planted by over 150 volunteers (students, groups of scouts, neighbours) in a deforested area, with the participation and sponsorship of several NGOs, the government and the private sector. A reception at the EU Delegation to UN will take place on 9 May at lunch time. EU Member States will present culinary specialties of their region, which underscores the EU's unity in diversity and adds a truly European flavour to the celebration. In addition, given the 10th anniversary of the enlargement, there will be a special food corner for the enlargement countries. The EUDEL communication team will produce a video of the festivities, highlighting also the enlargement anniversary by interviewing some of the EU Ambassadors. The EU delegation to Rwanda, in collaboration with its willing MS, is bringing European cinema to Rwanda in light of Europe Day. Under the heading 'Borderless Future', three European films will be screened at the University Conservatorium in Huye, Rwanda. An open discussion with students will take place between the screenings. The discussion round will be linked to the movies and the overall theme – future perspectives, opening of borders and regional integration, European 'dream' and immigration. A panel of experts will consist of European and Rwandan intellectuals. As in previous years, the Film Festival 2014 will be organised by the EU Delegation to Cambodia, in close collaboration with the Institut français du Cambodge (IFC) and take place in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. This year the reception organised by the EU Delegation to Cambodia will take place on the evening of 9th of May either at the Olympic Stadium or at the National Circus School. "Europe Day TV Concert" is a live-broadcast indoor concert aiming at marking Europe Day as well as promoting the EU in Cambodia. The concert will be opened by the EU Ambassador and will offer a variety of entertainment from contemporary ballet to singing performance in different languages including Khmer, English, French and German. A quiz will be organised for the viewers. Five-hundred people will attend the programme live in the studio and thousands are expected to watch the programme from home. Amidst all activities planned to celebrate the Europe day 2014, the EU Delegation to Cambodia and the EU Member States in Cambodia, in collaboration with the Khmer Youth Association (KYA), will organise for the second time a bicycle tour in Phnom Penh. The theme of this year is: "EUROPE ON A BICYCLE: Green is Beautiful". About 600 participants are expected to take part.

The documentary "Songs Redemption" has won three major awards at film festivals in Los Angeles, Toronto and Trinidad. It follows the story of five inmates who participated in an EU funded rehabilitation programme at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Facility in Kingston, Jamaica. It shows the day to day experiences and challenges of the inmates, the circumstances that brought them in conflict with the law but also the hope that the rehabilitation programme nurtures. The rehabilitation program in Jamaica is funded by the EU through its European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) in five correctional institutions. The public showing in Belize, organised by the EU Delegation, follows on a similar initiative with the documentary in Jamaica. The EU has signed an agreement through the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) for the three-years project “Institutional Support to Strengthen the Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute (SIRDI)". The construction of an administrative building for the project has been recently finilised. In June 2013 the EU Delegation to Jamaica, Belize, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands signed a one-year contract with Rise Life Management Services (€150,000) under EIDHR for support to children in detention. The programme commenced activities in December 2013. The objectives of the programme are: 1) to provide psychosocial and rehabilitative support for 400 children living in detention and state care; 2) to promote early reporting of sexual abuse among children; 3) to empower children with tools to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behaviours.Country: Jamaica | Activity: Other
In late 2013, the EU approved grant funding for two new projects as well as the signing of further support for two other projects. The EU Delegation to India is organising the intiative "EU comes to your school", targeting senior students (of standard IX and above), wherein EU Diplomats and Ambassadors from EU Member States introduce the history, geography and culture of Europe to the students, showing how the Union has managed to bring about 'Unity in Diversity' as well as peace and prosperity to a continent that until the middle of the 20th century had been periodically ravaged by disputes and wars.
They will also highlight the dynamics of the EU-India relationship, including educational opportunities for university studies in Europe. The EU Delegation to Leotho is again organising different activities in the framework of the Europe Week. The motto of this year will be "Europe to the Districts". The week will start with a breakfast for the country's press, hosted by the Head of Delegation. A small team from the Delegation will visit the ten districts of the country and will inform the local administration about the activities of the EU in Lesotho, focusing on the support to decentralisation.
Activities for children will aslo be organised. The school programme will inform school pupils about today's Europe and a quiz on Europe will be held. Furthermore EU-funded NGOs will organise an event in each district's capital. Finally, a one-day football tournament will be organised in Maseru, with the participation of school children, mainly from rural areas. The EU Delegation in Trinidad and Tobago will celebrate the Europe Day with an evening event at the "Charge d' Affairs" residence. The Minister of Foreign Affairs' of Trinidad and Tobago will open the event. On that occasion trailers from the European Film Festival (EFF) - starting the week after 9 May for a 2 week period in Trinidad and one week in Tobago - will be screened. The European Union Delegation in Mexico is present at the Friends´Culture Fair for the fifth year in a row. This two week-event is very successful. European Film Festival: the inauguration on 8 May of the 15th version of the European Film Festival is a milestone for the EU embassies in Chile. Europe Day 2013 celebrations will be focused in Barranquilla, a city with an important commercial harbour and historical ties with Europe through European immigration to Colombia.
Europe Day will be marked by a series of academic and cultural events organised by EU Member State embassies. These include a discussion on the role of women in peace negotiations, an exhibition on the 50 years of friendship between Germany and France, a piano concert and the XIX Eurocine European Film Festival. DEVCO peace laboratories projects and some of the European Union Member States will illustrate their implementation results in a so-called "projects fair".
The following day, the Trade Agreement between the European Union and Colombia will be discussed at a round table event. The EU will host its annual Europe Day Fair in Ramallah exhibiting EU-funded projects from East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza. More than twenty of the EU's major partners in Palestine will participate as well as European cultural and education institutions. A variety of activities for all ages will take place (photo exhibition, Europe Zone, performance by the Palestinian circus school, recreational activities for children). The EU Representative and Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad will officially open the event.
In addition, the EU with the participation of five Member States will organise three open days in Palestinian Universities to inform Palestinian students of educational opportunities in European Higher Institutions. In celebration of Europe Day 2013, Evrópustofa, the EU Info Centre in Iceland, will host two concerts in the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Saturday 11 May. The public is invited to enjoy music, performed by the European Union Youth Orchestra and accompanied by four singers from the European Opera Centre. Europe Week celebrations will commence on 3 May with the opening of the European Film Days which will be held in Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Novska and Dubrovnik until 11 May. The EU Delegation organizes this event in co-operation with the association Kulturni klub.
Other exciting events include a multimedia exhibition “Ja – građanin EU” (I am a citizen of the EU) in Zagreb’s Flower Square from 6-11 May before touring throughout Croatia and the traditional Europe Day at Zagreb's National University Library on 9 May. Renowned Croatian cellist Ana Rucner will perform during the event.

"Viva Europa" is the European Union's annual cultural showcase working closely with local partners and Member States' embassies to celebrate Europe Day in the Philippines. This year's celebrations bring to Manila the best in European art, music, dance, film, languages, food and poetry.
For the first time it will include a culinary festival to highlight Europe's incredibly diverse cuisine and food culture that continues to be appreciated across the globe. Events will include chef demonstrations, special European menus at select restaurants, pub quizzes, food tasting, culinary film screenings and tongue-twisting language quizzes.
In addition to this there will also be a poetry recital with European diplomats and well known Filipino writers. The European Film Festival has now become a permanent feature on Indonesia's cultural calendar. This year's "Europe on Screen" (EOS)" is the 13th edition of the Festival. EOS 2013 will take place in 7 cities across Indonesia: Bandung, Denpasar, Jakarta, Makassar, Medan, Surabaya and Yogyakarta in collaboration with EU Member States' embassies. Presenting 72 films from 30 European countries, the EOS 2013 will present a mosaic of films by emerging cinematic talents as well as established masters of European cinema. On May 9th there will be an online interview with the Head of Delegation on Chinese Twitter (weibo) in the afternoon, followed by the Europe Day Garden Party at the Delegation.
Over 2,000 guests will hear live performances including a piano, cello and violin trio performing classical music, a live band playing pop and rock favourites and the European anthem Ode to Joy by a choir from the Beijing Language University.
Also around the outside walls of the delegation building there will be a People-to-People Photo Exhibition, portraits of ordinary European and Chinese people in everyday life placed side by side to show similarities despite different cultures.

The EU Delegation will officially launch eleven projects supporting the Tanzanian Creative and Cultural Industries, in different parts of the country. A total of EUR 2.5 million (over Tshs. 5 billion) has been awarded
by the European Union as grants to these projects with the aim of supporting and promoting Tanzanian culture and also empowering cultural organisations, artists and creative technicians economically and professionally.
In addition, another project will be launched for the Social and Economic Rights of Women. Senegal will celebrate Europe Day on May 8th, with a reception at the residence co-hosted by the European Investment Bank. This year's theme is ‘Citizenship’. A concert will be given by Matador, a famous Senegalese rapper whose message is one of ‘empowerment to the citizen’. Matador and his group lead by example through work in the community. They teach youngsters from Senegal and abroad skills like designing, video-art, dance and music production, whilst highlighting their duties and responsibilities as citizens. The Delegation will partner with the national broadcasters (NBC) on the creation of two feature documentaries on two projects led by the EU. Around 160 Senior High School students from four selected schools will come to Europa House for an interactive programme which includes a talk about the European Union by a Delegation official and a quiz. Furthermore, four European students, currently studying in Japan will introduce their countries to the Japanese highschoolers and engage in casual conversation with their audience. Arts students from the Schools of Fine Arts from Auckland University, Canterbury University and Massey University are invited to submit artwork related to the following theme: "Europe in New Zealand".
