Under the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP)/ NDICI Rapid Response Pillar / Peace, Stability and Conflict Prevention

  • Strengthening the Resilience of Vulnerable Populations (migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees, etc.) and the Health Response to COVID-19 Emergency: a regional initiative to support partner countries across the region in their response to COVID-19, ensuring it is inclusive and conflict-sensitive by focusing on vulnerable populations in border areas and deteriorating security environments.

Under the Partnership Instrument (PI) / NDICI Support to EU Foreign Policy Needs

  • EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility: an initiative to contribute to strengthening and further enlarging EU-Brazil bilateral relations through fostering sector dialogues on priority themes of mutual interest.
  • Win-win: Gender Equality Means Good Business: a regional initiative working for equitable economic growth by promoting the economic empowerment of women in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Legal Review and Assessment of Legislation and Institutional Capacity of Mercosur countries for the Implementation of the Trade Part of the EU- Mercosur Association Agreement: a regional initiative to carry out a gap analysis of the legal and administrative commitments in the Trade Part of the Association Agreement, in relation to the existing legal and administrative framework in each of the Mercosur countries.
  • EU Policy and Outreach Partnership: a regional initiative in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay working to increase mutual understanding and awareness of the EU, supporting key European principles and policies through intercultural dialogue and people-to-people exchanges.
  • Responsible Business Conduct in Latin America and the Caribbean: a regional initiative to reinforce cooperation between the EU and LAC governments and businesses on Responsible Business Conduct, in particular on the implementation of international standards and best practices in this area, promoting inclusive and smart economic growth.
  • Working together to Fight Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): a regional initiative in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, to tackle AMR and engage with major global players and strategic countries and contribute towards achieving objectives of the World Health Organization Global Action Plan on AMR by sharing experiences, advocating best practices and stimulating actions outside the EU.
  • EU-Americas Partnership on Raw Materials: a regional initiative working to contribute to a secure, sustainable and ethical supply of raw materials for the EU industrial value chains (from EU and third countries), promoting at the same time the EU technologies and services for mining and the values of responsible and sustainable mining.
  • EU-Latin America cooperation on Civil Aviation: a regional initiative to promote EU standards, strengthen regulatory cooperation and facilitate market access for EU aviation industry in LA, as well as minimise the impact of aviation on the environment and climate change.
  • International Urban and Regional Cooperation in the Americas – Latin America: a regional initiative to lead and develop a form of decentralised urban and regional cooperation on sustainable urban development and innovation.
  • Support to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in the Americas: a regional initiative to develop, monitor and lead international climate and sustainable energy action and the related diplomacy at the local level and to support the implementation of the Paris Agreement together with the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Reducing plastic waste in the Americas – Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns: a regional initiative to support a transition to sustainable production and consumption of plastics and contribute to significantly reducing marine and riverine litter, including by supporting European approaches, policies and business models.
  • Low Carbon and Circular Economy Business Action in the Americas: a regional initiative to contribute to the limitation and/or reduction of industrial greenhouse gas emissions in line with the commitments of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
  • Support to the development of Social and Solidarity Economy: a global initiative with actions in Brazil to contribute fostering the supportive ecosystems for social enterprises both in the targeted countries and at the international level, in order to create room for them to continue contributing in shaping and implementing markets and business conduct models.
  • Cooperation with major economies for the implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPIPA): a global initiative to support the EU's international climate leadership through providing solid EU inputs to the efforts of key partner countries to implement their commitments to the Paris Agreement.
  • Ocean Governance: Protecting and Restoring Marine Ecosystems, Catalysts for Building Peace and Security and Fostering Sustainable Economies: a global initiative to ensure safe, secure, clean and sustainably managed oceans. It increases the EU's role as a global actor in international Ocean Governance by fostering regional and interregional cooperation relevant to the protection and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems and promoting the exchange of knowledge on the effective management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
  • Promoting Biodiversity and Sustainability in the Agriculture and Food Sector through Economic Valuation (TEEB implementation - AGRIFOOD): a global initiative to protect biodiversity and contribute to a more sustainable agriculture and food sector in selected EU partner countries with a view to moving towards a level playing field by avoiding unfair competition through low environmental standards.
  • International Digital Cooperation - Enhanced Data Protection and Data Flows: a global initiative, which has Brazil as one of the main partner countries, to increase the awareness by relevant actors (public authorities, civil society and business) about the EU personal data protection model, of its relevance to data exchanges with the EU and its potential as a source of inspiration for partner countries data protection initiatives.
  • International Alliance for a Human-centric Approach to Artificial Intelligence: a global initiative with actions in Brazil to contribute to the setting up of a framework for ethics and trust to enable the growth of AI in accordance with EU and universally recognised values and prepare the ground for global alliance building in this field.
