About the Ambassador

I am Sylvie Millot, the Ambassador of the European Union to Cabo Verde. I have over 30 years of experience within the European Institutions, having held senior positions in Brussels and in countries such as Morocco, the Dominican Republic, and Mozambique.

I am excited about my new role. Cabo Verde is the only country in Sub-Saharan Africa to have concluded a Special Partnership with the European Union, which establishes a political framework for regular and high-level dialogue. This Special Partnership reflects our shared values of democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and the promotion of multilateralism. The archipelago is also one of only eight countries in the world that enjoys privileged access to the European market, allowing it to export goods free of customs duties.

Over the next four years, I am committed to deepening the ambitious vision of this partnership and contributing to giving it a human face and a tangible impact on the lives of Cabo Verdeans.

With the support of my team in the city of Praia, in close cooperation with the resident EU Member States, together with Cabo Verdean authorities, civil society, and the private sector, we aim to strengthen our cooperation, boost European investment under the Global Gateway initiative, and promote sustainable development for all.

I believe that together, we can better face today’s challenges and build a prosperous future for our citizens.
