Basic Needs and Livelihoods - Grants - European Union Delegation to Afghanistan launches call for expression of interest in health and livelihoods

Eligible organisations are invited to apply for grants to support activities in health and livelihoods as part of a EUR 34 million program.

Today, the European Union (EU) launches a call for expression of interest in the areas of livelihoods (with a focus on private sector development) and health. The aim of the call is to invite not-for-profit organisations with experience in these sectors and with a presence in Afghanistan to apply for grant funding.

This call for expression of interest is part of a larger EU support package in basic needs and livelihoods for the population of Afghanistan, delivered through international organisations and non-governmental organisations.

The total budget is EUR 34 million, with potential grants ranging from EUR 2 to 12 million with a project duration between 12 and 36 months.

Organisations active in livelihoods/private sector support and health, and with a track record of activities in Afghanistan, are invited to apply.

The first step requires organisations to submit concept notes, after which a selection will be made. Organisations with selected concept notes will then be invited to develop full applications, with contracting to take place through a negotiated procedure. The full procedure for the grant award can be found in the guidelines of the call (see annexes below).

The European Union aims to have the contracts signed by the end of July 2022.

The deadline for submission of the concept notes is 19 April 2022. An online information session will be organised on 29 March 2022. Please contact us on before 27 March 2022 if you would like to attend the information session.
