EU and AU joint action towards an effective cease-fire in eastern DRC and stability and peace in the Great Lakes region
The EU and AU, as key partners on peace and security, explored concrete ways to further strengthen African-led peace mediation in the Great Lakes region and discussed potential EU support to the AU-led mediation architecture.

Discussions reaffirmed the partners´ joint commitment to African-led and African-owned solutions aligning with the AU’s Agenda 2063 and the Joint declaration of 7th EU-AU summit in Luanda. Inclusive African peace efforts are key to a lasting political solution.
