Promoting Rights, Inclusiveness, Dignity and Equality for LGBT in Albania project - PRIDE for LGBT in Albania II (PRIDE II)
Overall Objective
To strengthen the role of grassroots civil society organisations’ (CSOs) in rural and urban Albania in promoting the acceptance, inclusion and protection of the LGBT minority in rural and urban Albania, with a particular focus on protecting at-risk marginalised youth LGBTs, and promoting respect for the fundamental rights of the LGBT community.
Activities
Act 1.1: In-situ trainings to build the organisational capacities for grassroots CSOs
A1.2: Training for the development of advocacy skills for grassroots CSOs and set up of a national LGBT advocacy strategy
Activity 2.1 - Service provision support for 350 LGBT individuals through Aleanca community centre
Activity 2.2 - Support for 20 at-risk homeless LGBT youth via an emergency residential shelter
A2.3 – Subgrants for service provision to the LGBT community in the regions;
A3.1 - Training on Human Rights and Ethics for students in journalism;
A3.2 Subgrants for awareness raising in the regions for grassroots CSOs;
Activity 3.3 – National public awareness raising campaigns (IDAHO week)
Expected Results
Outcome 1: Grassroots CSOs have improved their financial sustainability, and have acquired new skills and knowledge to advocate and implement actions improving the acceptance, inclusion and protection of the LGBT community in Tirana and the regions. Output 1.1: at least 8 CSOs (the 2 co-applicants and 6 other CSOs) have strengthened their organisational capacities (e.g.: personnel management, finances, strategic planning, and Monitoring & Evaluation) and long-term financial sustainability Output 1.2: at least 8 CSOs have strengthened their advocacy skills and one-joint national advocacy strategy is developed and implemented
Outcome 2: The LGBT community in Albania, especially at-risk LGBT youth and transgender people, are benefiting from increased and improved counselling, protection and access to employment support in the Regions and Tirana. Output 2.1: Up to 350 LGBT individuals have access to basic psycho-social services and counselling thanks to the Aleanca Community Centre. Output 2.2: up to 20 at-risk homeless LGBT youth have access to an emergency residential service and psycho-social services Output 2.3: at least 4 grants are awarded to enable LGBT individuals outside of Tirana to benefit from services and professional counselling
Outcome 3: To promote a more positive image of the LGBT community and improve their acceptance by the general population in the regions and Tirana Output 3.1: At least 60 students in journalism are trained in ethical and inclusive reporting on gender/LGBT issues Output 3.2: At least 2 grants are awarded to grassroots CSOs and/or LGBT/LGBT-friendly activists to organise awareness raising activities outside of Tirana Output 3.3: Two national public awareness raising campaigns are organised |
