The EU as a Power for Prosperity, Security and Democracy Worldwide: EU Ambassador addressed the National Press Club of Australia
The Ambassador spotlighted the EU’s resolute response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and examined its far-reaching impact on Europe’s approach to the geopolitical landscape. Central to this response is the EU’s recent adoption of a common defence package, a landmark step towards strengthening collective security and enhancing industrial capacity.
''Europe and Australia are more than markets to each other. We are more than a set of institutions. Our relation is more than economy. It is about prosperity. It is about security. It is about democracy. And this is the moment to stand up for our strengths and values'', said Ambassador Visentin.
After the address, the Ambassador took questions from the journalists to give further insights into the EU’s ambitious global agenda and EU-Australia cooperation, both bilaterally and globally.
