World Bee Day Event

19.05.2022

The EU Delegation to Australia is sponsoring the Befair at the Belgian Embassy, an event hosted on the occasion of World Bee Day. Come along and enjoy a sweet morning with beehive guided tours, workshops for kids and a meet and greet opportunity with Maya the Bee.

On the occasion of World Bee Day, bring your friends and family and join us on the .befair at the Belgian Embassy on 21 May between 11am and 3pm and visit the Embassy bees in their homes on a guided tour, talk to Maya the Bee, check out the workshops at the kids corner. Stroll around the bee market while enjoying live music, grab a sausage sizzle and a Belgian honey beer, maybe a jar of locally harvested Belgian Embassy .behive honey. You might even take home one of the great prizes in the multi-prize raffle and art contest. Plenty to do and see for the entire family, knowing your contributions will help support bees and beekeepers in Ukraine.

The Belgian Embassy bought 5 established beehives last year and has taken the benefits of our bees’ productivity a step further. We are using the proceeds of our honey sales to donate to “Help on Bee Wings”. The project was set up to rebuild beehives and support beekeepers who went to defend their country and their families in Ukraine.

This is a zero waste event, so feel free to bring water bottle to refill, be mindful of your mode of transport and follow the recycling guidelines provided.

If you can’t attend, but still want to donate to “Help on Bee Wings”, please contact griet.gijsels@diplobel.fed.be for bank account details.
