Title

Joint Action for Nutrition Outcome (JANO)

The project aims at achieving nutritional security through national and sub-national multi-sectoral cooperation (based on the National Plan of Action for Nutrition). Through the project, women will be able to produce more agricultural products and generate increased income based on a gender transformative approach. At the same time local government will be strengthened and  be accountable for increased food productivity and income growth, by improving   planning, coordination, and monitoring skills of its respective departments.

Objectives

Outcome (Specific Objectives) and Outputs (Expected results)

 

The project objective is to contribute in ending malnutrition of children under five-years of age, together with addressing the nutritional needs of Pregnant and Lactating Women and adolescent girls.

The specific objective is to improve maternal and child nutrition through implementation of multi-sectoral approaches and strengthened nutritional governance in the areas of interventions mentioned above.

Expected results:

ER1 Women and adolescent girls in communities are empowered to demand and utilise both nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific services

ER2 Coordinated and resourced sub-national and local government structures recognise, respond and are accountable to demands of poor and marginalised communities

ER3 Production and access to high value nutritious commodities and services are increased

ER4 Information and communication technology (ICT) platform is established at local level to connect relevant govt. departments and increase awareness of community people on nutrition interventions

Target group(s)

410,620 Adolescent girls and boys, 330 primary and secondary schools, 10,557 community members,621 community support groups,75 Government nutrition coordination committees, 207 community health care providers, 465 family welfare assistants, 198 health assistants,990 Government proposed multi-purpose health volunteers,40 agriculture extension officers, 10 livestock officers, 30 multi-national and local private sector companies.

Final beneficiaries

JANO will create secured access to information, and strengthened services for 4.7 million people, including 275,415 Pregnant and Lactating Women and married adolescent girls, and 190,322 under five-year old children in the districts of Nilphamari and Rangpur
