Title

 Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO)

The project aims at ensuring Food and Nutrition Security for women and children with better feeding/care practices and an improved safe/hygiene environment. Furthermore, SONGO will ensure nutrition governance through facilitating accountability, transparency and participation mechanisms. Beneficiary selection is based on an ‘all-inclusive’ approach which no household leaves behind (most poor and vulnerable.) A distinctive feature is the use of mobile phone applications to foster interactions between health workers and their clients.

Objectives

The overall goal of the action is to improve maternal and child nutrition in Gaibandha and Kurigram districts of Northwest Bangladesh.

Expected outcomes:

  • Effective Upazila (UPZ) level nutrition governance mechanisms in operation
  • Improved maternal and child health and nutrition practices
  • Improved WASH and environmental hygiene infrastructure and practices
  • Enhanced year-round availability and access to safe and nutritious food
