Project in Support of Civil Society Active in the Areas of Environment and Biodiversity in Burundi – PASCALE-B IBIDUKIKIJE
The PASCALE-B IBIDUKIKIJE project is funded by the European Union with a budget envelope of 2 million euros. It is implemented by a consortium of 6 organizations: Appui au Développement Intégral et à la Solidarité dans les Collines (ADISCO), Association pour la Gestion Durable de la Biodiversité au Burundi (AGDB), Association Villageoise d’Entraide et de Développement Communautaire (AVEDEC), Unissons les forces pour la Coopération et le Développement et l’Appui au Monde Rural (UCODE-AMR), Join For Water (JFW) and Louvain Coopération au Développement (LC) – Lead of the consortium.
The project aims to contribute to the engagement of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) as actors of good governance and socio-economic development in Burundi.
Through training workshops, a continuous monitoring system and financing to the third parties, the project (i) strengthens the organizational and technical capacities of Burundian CSOs involved in the protection of natural resources and the environment, (ii) strengthens the networking between CSOs, (iii) supports CSOs in advocacy towards the Burundian authorities and any other stakeholder, and (iv) improves the practices of the population regarding waste management, sanitation, hygiene, management of natural resources and preservation of biodiversity.
