Umuco w’Iterambere – Energy Component of the Resilience Program
Umuco w’Iterambere is the component dedicated to renewable energies of the vast Program in Support of the Resilience of Burundi Populations, funded by the EU.
With a budget of 14 million euros, it aims to strengthen the resilience of populations in rural and remote areas through access to a modern, efficient and sustainable basic energy service.
The projects of the Umuco w’Iterambere component are implemented by the following organizations: AVSI, NCA, LVIA, We World-GVC, ICU, UNHCR, UNDP and FAO. They operate in 9 provinces of the country: Kayanza, Ngozi, Kirundo, Muyinga, Karusi, Cankuzo, Ruyigi, Rutana and Makamba. All projects are implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines.
Umuco w’Iterambere targets three groups of beneficiaries: households, economic and productive activities and basic services, such as schools and health centers.
