Led by distinguished artistic director Timothy Piper, the concert attracted more than 1,300 concertgoers. Music was performed in 25 different European languages – the EU’s 24 official languages and Ukrainian, in a show of respect for the extraordinary resilience of the people of Ukraine in their fight for freedom, democracy and the right to choose their own destiny.
The concert was held on 2 December at the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa, a heritage site and home to the EU Christmas Concert from the very beginning.
The European Union Christmas Concert will be broadcast on Rogers TV Cable 22 during the holiday season. Watch here.
