Dr. Melita Gabrič, Ambassador of the European Union to Canada, wrapped up a two-day visit to Toronto that included meetings with Ontario Premier, the Hon. Doug Ford, and the Hon. Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, and Minister of Indigenous Affairs, as well as discussions with business leaders, EU Member States consuls and students at Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

The visit offered an opportunity to discuss further cooperation between Ontario and the EU, and highlight EU-Canada priorities this year marking the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA), two agreements that have consolidated our like-mindedness and allowed companies on both sides of the Atlantic to weather the COVID-19 storm.

Ambassador Gabrič also used the visit to discuss EU’s response and the wide-ranging EU-Canada coordination in response to the war in Ukraine.
