EU Delegation to Canada welcomes EVP Stéphane Séjourné

The Delegation of the European Union to Canada welcomed Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy of the European Commission, to Canada from July 9 to 11.

The visit came only two weeks after the EU-Canada Summit in Brussels. Together with Mélanie Joly, Canadian Minister of Industry, Executive Vice-President Séjourné launched the new industrial policy dialogue to strengthen cooperation in industrial sectors of mutual interest.

The Executive Vice-President proposed that the first meeting of the EU-Canada industrial policy dialogue be held this autumn, as part of the implementation of the Partnership on Raw Materials Strategy, as well as in the context of the G7 Action Plan on Critical Minerals.

During his visit, Executive Vice-President Séjourné also visited the Northern Graphite mine and processing plant at Lac des Îles in Quebec, in the presence of Geneviève Tuts, Ambassador of the European Union to Canada. The visit was an opportunity to explore trade and investment opportunities in the critical materials sector.
