16.11.2021

Dr. Melita Gabrič, Ambassador or the European Union to Canada, and Andrej Gregor Rode, Ambassador-designate of Slovenia to Canada, welcomed European film fans to the in-person opening of the 36th annual European Union Film Festival (EUFF) on 12 November.

Jointly organized with the Canadian Film Institute (CFI), the event featured the matinee screening of the Slovenian film Inventory at the historic ByTowne Cinema in Ottawa. In-theatre opening events also took place in Toronto and Vancouver.

This year’s edition of the EUFF continues as a virtual festival across Canada.

In her remarks, Ambassador Gabrič thanked the embassies, consulates and cultural institutes of EU Member States, as well as the CFI, the European Union Film Festival in Toronto, and The Cinematheque in Vancouver for making the festival possible.
