European Union Delegation celebrates the European Day of Languages

26.09.2016

More than 500 students and language enthusiasts participated in the 3rd edition of the European Day of Languages on 24 September at the Glebe Collegiate Institute in Ottawa. It was a unique occasion to experience first-hand the wealth of Europe’s linguistic heritage.

As in previous years, the event, organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC)/Ottawa cluster, the European Union Delegation to Canada and the Embassies of EU Member States, in partnership with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), featured a series of mini-language classes and booth displays.

The European Day of Languages has been celebrated since 2001 with hundreds of events worldwide. The European Day of Languages was created by the Council of Europe in hopes of encouraging language learning and intercultural understanding in Europe and beyond its borders.
