Travel Advisory Update: EU recommends travel restrictions be lifted for Canada

02.07.2021

The Council of the European Union has issued a recommendation on 1 July advising EU Members States to lift restrictions for non-essential travellers from a number of countries, including Canada.

This recommendation is not legally binding and the implementation of travel advisories falls under the responsibility and jurisdiction of EU Member States according to their own legislation and individual country rules.

If you are a Canadian citizen planning to travel to the EU this summer, you are highly advised to check the individual rules of the country or countries you intend to visit in Europe to ensure compliance with entry requirements and country rules for non-essential travel.

The recommendation is part of the Council’s responsibility to regularly review and adjust entry conditions into the EU based on the epidemiological situation in the European Union and around the world.

As stipulated in the Council recommendation, this list will continue to be reviewed every two weeks and, as the case may be, updated.
