On 20 October, an EU-China Seminar on Sustainable Agriculture took place in Hangzhou. The event was co-organised by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to China, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (MARA), with the support of the Embassy of Slovenia in China.

More than 20 speakers and 40 people attended the seminar. Speakers contributing to the discussions included Agricultural and Science Counsellors from the EU Delegation and seven EU Member States, representatives of MARA, Zhejiang provincial government, and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science.

This seminar provided an opportunity to address questions related to food security and environmental sustainability. Participants discussed challenges of balancing food security and ecological development and shared experiences on relevant policies and best practices in the field of sustainable agriculture.

Participants remarked that the EU and China should maintain regular dialogue and seek further cooperation in the field of sustainable agricultural development.
