At the occasion of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, on December 12, 2023, the Delegation of the European Union to China hosted the closing event of the first EU-China Experimental Climate Course, organized by the Delegation in the autumn.
The course invited seven European and Chinese lecturers and included eight modules on EU and China’s climate policies, public participation, climate security, climate communication, and low-carbon planning. Around 600 students from 18 Chinese and foreign universities took part in the online training and field research.
The best 20 students of this course participated in the closing event in Beijing to celebrate the completion of the course and to meet with diplomats of the EU Delegation.
Mr. Laurent Bardon, Head of Green Transition Section and Counsellor for Environment and Climate Action at the EU Delegation to China, had an interactive exchange with the participants elaborating on the policies and opportunities for the EU and China to jointly address the climate challenge. Yu Wei, Executive Director of Research Center for Carbon Neutrality and Green Development, China Jiliang University, reviewed the implementation of this course and put forward suggestions for universities to promote climate education and dissemination among European and Chinese youth. European and Chinese lecturers, as well as student representatives also joined the event and shared their teaching and learning experiences throughout the course.
