On 29 March, the European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Sven Koopmans, held consultations with China’s Special Representative to the Middle East Issue, Zhai Jun. The two sides discussed the need to end the suffering in and around Gaza, including through an immediate ceasefire, the full and unconditional release of all hostages and the full and unhindered humanitarian relief, in line with the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2728. They also discussed the need to prevent regional spillover of violence and to prepare the ground for a comprehensive peace conference to pave the way for a two-State solution.
