Colombia dressed up in blue to commemorate Europe Day

Colombia dressed up in blue and yellow to commemorate Europe Day and the groundbreaking Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for what is now known as the European Union. On this May 9, 2021, the Delegation of the European Union together with its Member States present in Colombia organized the illumination of different monuments around the country as a symbol of unity, reconciliation, solidarity, equality, dignity and democracy.

These emblematic monuments are the Ventana de Campeones in Barranquilla, the Caja de Madera of the Convention Center in Medellín, the Viaducto Provincial in the city of Bucaramanga, the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas in Ipiales, the Colpatria Tower in Bogotá, the Convention Center in Cartagena de Indias and the headquarters of the European Delegation in Colombia, located in the Cusezar Building in Bogotá. With this commemoration, we celebrate with Colombia our day and invite you to remember this great dream of integration, which today celebrates its 71st anniversary.
