In a warm and inspiring atmosphere, guests many of whom wore a touch of purple, the colour symbolising equality, leadership and solidarity among women celebrated the achievements and commitment of the women who, every day, contribute to strengthening dialogue between nations and advancing international cooperation.

This year, the Ambassador of the European Union wished to give the celebration a special dimension by inviting each guest to attend with a young woman of her choice. Through this symbolic gesture, the aim was to create an intergenerational dialogue, encourage the sharing of experiences and inspire a new generation of women to pursue careers in diplomacy and international relations.

The evening offered young professionals and students a unique opportunity to meet accomplished women leaders, hear their personal stories and discover the many facets of modern diplomacy.

Proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2022, the International Day of Women in Diplomacy seeks to recognise the achievements of women in diplomacy and promote greater participation of women at all levels of diplomatic service.
Through this celebration, the European Union reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and the promotion of women's leadership, convinced that a more inclusive, diverse and representative diplomacy is essential to addressing the challenges of our time and building a more peaceful and cooperative world.
