The EU Delegation and France join hands with the Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) and the Government of Ethiopia to relaunch agricultural production in conflict-affected zones of Amhara and Tigray regions in Ethiopia

Bahir Dar, June 20, 2023/Mekelle, June 21, 2023

Farmers in Amhara and Tigray regions will be able to re-start and increase their production for the next harvest season, thanks to the support of the European Union and France. This is a crucial step to reduce food insecurity and to strengthen agricultural resilience and, therefore, a building block for peace in these two conflict-affected regions. On June 20 and 21, the Ambassador of France H.E. Rémi Maréchaux and Ms. Valérie Tehio, Country Director of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), together with the Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. of the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia Dr. Stefan Lock witnessed the distribution of seeds to farmers in Tigray and Amhara. Together with senior representatives of the Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) and the regional Bureaus of Agriculture, they met with beneficiaries and project managers. The visit acknowledges the important work of ATI and all implementing partners and collects evidence that support reaches the intended beneficiaries.   More
