Team Europe and partners join forces to support internally displaced persons in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, 17 May 2024 – Today, the European Union (EU) and its partners held the federal launch of a three-year programme to improve the living conditions of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities affected by conflicts and natural disasters in the Ethiopian regions of Afar, Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz and Tigray. A staggering 4.5 million people are internally displaced across the country, are in dire need of humanitarian support.

 

The EUR 43.5 Mio (ETB 2.7 Billion) programme is coordinated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and jointly implemented with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the Danish and Ethiopian Red Cross and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). more
