EU Delegation to Ghana joins forces with a new Goodwill Ambassador to promote shared values and priorities

Ms Michaels is a committed climate activist using her platforms to advocate for climate action, including in her previous role as EU Climate Champion. She has committed to help promote and engage the Ghanaian public on various EU priorities in Ghana, especially on issues of sustainability and women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
An unveiling ceremony took place at the EU Residence in Accra, where EU Ambassador Irchad Razaaly announced the start of the EU’s partnership with Ms Michaels. He emphasised that “she is an example of female leadership and entrepreneurship and has already demonstrated serious commitment to sustainability, job creation and women’s empowerment, all important priorities of the European Union.”
Of indisputable reputation and acclaimed achievement, Ms Michaels will play an important role to further expand the reach of EU messaging, especially towards new and young audiences.
The formal leg of the event was preceded by musical performances and a sustainable fashion show showcasing Ghanaian designers working with recycled and other green materials. The show featured collections by Ato Tetteh, MOD, Chiip Oneal, Ajepomaa Gallery and Elisha Boei. The EU Deputy Ambassador himself, Pieter Smidt Van Gelder, also made a surprise appearance on the catwalk.
Young, industrial and influential Victoria Michaels founded Fashion Connect Africa to boost the visibility of African fashion and empower young women to access opportunities, including education, training and jobs. In parallel, Victoria’s work as a model has provided her with a large online audience, and she has notably featured on the covers of international magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Glitz Africa, Elle, and Vanity Fair.
