Webinar - African Union - European Union/EBO Agrifood Platform

The first meeting of the African Union and European Union (AU-EU) Agrifood platform will be held in Accra (Ghana) on 25th June, 2020. The Webinar, a collaboration of the AU-EU/European Business Organisation in Ghana, will commence at 9:00 to 11:20 (11:00 to 13:20 CET).

The meeting will involve private sector representatives. This is because the private sector holds the largest potential for generating jobs and growth and it is therefore essential to boost responsible private – domestic and foreign – investments in Africa.

Considering the key role of agricultural development for structural transformation in Africa, the aim of the platform is to develop a structured dialogue with local/regional government to discuss relevant issues re legal framework, policy, access to credit, government intervention, responsible investment rules, and other areas where business and government need to be on the same page.

The establishment of an AU EU Agrifood Platform has been envisaged to unlock the potential of the agri industries to create job opportunities in African rural areas with the support of the private sector.
