European Union Gifts Electronic Items to University of Guyana
In handing over the items to Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Paloma Mohamed Martin and members of the University of Guyana’s Student Union, at the University’s campus, Ambassador Ponz-Cantó highlighted that, the gift coincides with the ongoing activities that are a part of the EU Delegation in Guyana’s 30th anniversary celebrations. He further added, “I am happy to deliver these materials which should help students and faculty to take forward one of the most important objectives for Guyana: the education and progress of all its citizens”.
Prof. Paloma Mohamed, UG’s first woman Vice Chancellor, expressed the University’s congratulations to the European Union on their important anniversary, noting that UG is also approaching an important anniversary - its 60th year in 2023. She extended the University’s appreciation for the gifts which she says “will be deployed into immediate use. It will partly enhance the capacity of the UG Student Society, in Georgetown and Berbice. The equipment will also partially support the University’s ongoing thrust for more structured Unit to provide support for students with challenges and disabilities within the University’s new Centre for Behavioral Sciences and Research (CeBRES).”
