Closing ceremony for the certification in business skills with a focus on agroforestry

Tegucigalpa, M.D.C., March 5, 2025. Today marks the closing ceremony of the Certification in Business Skills with an Agroforestry Focus, taught by specialized professors from the Technological University of Honduras (UTH) at its campuses in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, with the contribution of the European Union.

This is the first class of the innovative certificate program, which has 50 participants, including business development technicians from the Business Development Centers for MSMEs (CDE-MIPYME) in the regions of Valle de Sula, Cordillera de Nombre de Dios, La Mosquitia, Lempa, and Golfo de Fonseca.

Over a period of six months, the participants in the certification program expanded their skills in the areas of Business Acceleration, Agile Entrepreneurship Methodologies, Social Economy, and Agroforestry Value Chains.

This certification is the result of technical assistance from the EUROEMPLEO Program funded by the European Union and is linked to its GLOBAL GATEWAY initiative, which promotes sustainable and reliable connections that are useful for people and the planet and helps address the most pressing global challenges, from combating climate change to improving health systems and
boosting the competitiveness and security of global supply chains.

This certification, unique in the country, was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the UTH, which, in 2013, with funding and knowledge transfer from European Union higher education programs, established its UTH Avanza Innovation Center.

For participating CDE-MIPYME, this certification is an incentive, but also a commitment to bring more and better business development services with an agroforestry focus to entrepreneurs in their respective regions.
