Over 1,000 People Attended Europe Day 2025 at Reykjavik Art Museum, Kjarvalsstadir

There was no shortage of people at the Europe Day 2025 Celebration on Saturday 10 May 2025, organised by the EU Delegation to Iceland in cooperation with Reykjavik Art Museum.
Over 1,000 people made their way to the Europe Day Celebration held at Reykjavik Art Museum - Kjarvalsstaðir. The event started at 14h00 with a bang as the Mosfellsbær Brass Band filled the museum with life and music.
Clara Ganslandt, the EU Ambassador to Iceland, and Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir, Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament, emphasised the importance of European cooperation and EU-Iceland relations in their opening speeches.
European cultural diversity was the main the celebration. The Embassies of Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, together with the Romanian Consulate, had decorated information stands and offered guests tasty examples of their food culture, as well as information about their countries and games for children. Rannís, the Icelandic Centre for Research, was also present offering information about variosu EU funding opportunities for Icelandic businesses, institutions, artists, students and more.
Icelandic culture and art was also celebrated at the event as guests received free admission to the two main art exhibitions of the museum. The EU Delegation also offered guests hundreds of Icelandic pancakages.
Various musical performances with a European flair took place during the celebration. Among them were: students from the Reykjavik Music Academy; Hörðuvallaskóli School Choir; Bryndís Ásta Magnúsdóttir, singer; Magnús Þór Sveinsson, pianist; Magdalena Urbanek, singer; and Márton Wirth, pianist.
Children received extra attention at the celebration. Plenty of fun activities for children were offered including a special crafting station, balloons, games, and some candy. Children also received "European Passports" to collect stamps and stickers from each Embassy.
