Annual Meeting of the Ambassadors of the 27 EU Member States Held in Reykjavík
Every year, the Ambassadors of the 27 Member States of the European Union gather in Reykjavík for a meeting held by the EU Delegation to Iceland. The Meeting is held every year in connection with the Icelandic National Day, 17 June. The EU Ambassador, Ms Lucie Samcová - Hall Allen, chaired the meeting. The Special gest of the meeting was the Prime Minister of Iceland, Ms Katrín Jakobsdóttir. The Prime Minister discussed with the Ambassadors Iceland's close cooperation with the European Union and its Member States, and discussed with the Ambassadors the Government's main policy issues.
Ambassadors also had the opportunity to speak with Ms María Mjöll Jónsdóttir, the Director General of International Affairs and Development Cooperation at the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and with Ms Þórarinna Söebech, Minister Counsellor and Director of the Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about Iceland's priorities when it comes to international cooperation and development programmes.
Seven EU Member States operate Embassies in Iceland.
