Foreign Minister Attends a Lunch with Ambassadors of EU Member States

On 12 December 2023, Iceland's new Foreign Minister, Mr. Bjarni Benediktsson, was a special guest at a lunch with Ambassadors of the EU Member States held at the residence of the EU Ambassador to Iceland.

 

At the invitation of the Ambassador of the European Union to Iceland, Ms Lucie Samcová-Hall Allen, Iceland's new Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Bjarni Benediktsson, attended a lunch with Ambassadors of EU Member States, held at the residence of the EU Ambassador.

Among the many topics covered during the lunch, the Minister discussed the good cooperation Iceland has with the EU and welcomed the recent agreement reached at chief negotiators' level on the 2021-28 EEA Financial Mechanism. The Minister and the Ambassadors also discussed the upcoming 30th Anniversary of the EEA Agreement next year.

Minister Benediktsson took office as Minister for Foreign Affairs on 14 October 2023, having served as Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs from 2017 to 2023.
