32 years ago today, Ukraine regained its independence, we honour the Ukrainian people as they mark this Independence Day while fighting to defend their sovereignty and freedom against Russia's unprovoked, unjustified aggression.

At Kyiv Square in Reykjavík today, EU Ambassador, Lucie Samcová-Hall Allen, and EU Delegation staff members expressed support for the Ukrainian people.  We congratulate the Ukrainian people on this important national day. Their legendary bravery and resilience in defending their freedom and independence has stunned the world and the EU will stand with Ukraine today -  and in the long run. Their fight is for our values and their victory will be our victory too.
