EU-India Partners for Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency

15.07.2020

Resource efficiency and circular economy models can help us in decoupling economic growth from resource use and its negative environmental externalities. There is growing global acknowledgement of the significance of resource efficiency and circular economy for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and commitments under the Paris Agreement. The transition to the circular economy requires a 'systemic shift' and global cooperation.

Cooperation between the EU and India is crucial to bring about accelerated development and prosperity In recognition of this, the Government of India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the EU Delegation to India signed a Joint Declaration of Intent in 2018 to cooperate in the areas of resource efficiency and circular economy.
