Access to Inclusive Quality Primary and Secondary Education for IDPs and Refugees in Crisis-Affected Areas in Iraq


As part of overall EU support during the IDP and refugee crisis in Iraq, this project aims to increase access to inclusive and quality primary and secondary education for IDPs and refugees in crisis affected areas.

Specific Objectives:

  • Develop the capacity of civil society organisations that are active and relevant in the provision of educational services for IDPs and Syrian refugees in Iraq.
  • Foster policy dialogue with the Government of Iraq (Gol), the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and local authorities delivering education in emergencies.
  • Provide financial support to third parties (‘sub-grants’) to contribute to the following expected results:
    • Improved access to inclusive education for vulnerable school-age children (6-17), including IDPs, refugees and children with disabilities, affected by the Iraq/Syria/IS crisis (equality)
    • Education and learning environments in primary and secondary education are adapted to the situation of vulnerable children (quality).
