Capacity Building in Primary and Secondary Education: Improving Quality and Equality

This project is part of a financing agreement signed with Iraqi government in 2016, titled ‘Capacity Building Program for Primary and Secondary Education in Iraq’. The agreement’s objectives are to improve the quality and equality of the education system, strengthen institutional capacities in education administration at central and local level, and to promote decentralisation in education management. This program aims to achieve the first objective - to improve the quality and equality of the primary and secondary education systems in Iraq. This will be achieved through capacity building at the Ministry and school level.

The specific objectives of the project are to:  

• • Raise the quality of education at primary and secondary school level by building capacity to enhance the curriculum, particularly in the areas of human science and peace education,
  • Support children with particular needs, including those with disabilities.
• Increase access to education for children with disabilities, through the collection of baseline data, updating legislation and the curriculum, capacity building, and awareness raising.
• Raise the quality of education, through enhanced quality assurance of schools against standards.
