Watch our annual EU Beach Clean Up in Ashkelon!

On Tuesday 26 October, we held our annual #EUBeachCleanUp on the shores of Ashkelon, in cooperation with the Ashdod Municipality and Mayor Tomer Glam, eight ambassadors from EU member states, dozens of EU diplomats, the Zalul environmental association and students from Ort and Mekif Dalet school in the city.

Together, we collected about 100 kg (!) of waste from the shore, and inaugurated a permanent recycling station that will now be of service to the people of Ashkelon.

EU Ambassador to Israel Dimiter Tzantchev himself led the cleaning effort. "Europe and Israel share a common border — the Mediterranean, and as such, we must continue to take care of it," he said.
"The EU leads a clear policy in the struggle against global warming and reducing the use of plastic. I am happy to be in Ashkelon, to show solidarity with the residents of the city who underwent a challenging period this summer."

Together, we will protect our beaches and keep them clean!
