EU participates in Successful "Loving Art, Making Art" Outdoor Event
The past weekend (November 12-14th) marked the "Loving Art, Making Art" event that took place across Tel Aviv. In line with the COVID-19 measures, organizers were able to successfully execute the event in various spaces, spread out in all of Tel Aviv, to the joy and pleasure of countless visitors.
"Loving Art, Making Art" is an annual flagship event initiated by the Tel Aviv municipality, and this year (the 18th year), the event took place in cooperation with the European Union, and under the chosen theme of "Open Skies". The events included the participation of hundreds of artists, spread throughout the whole city, in museums, galleries and open spaces.
The event marked a unique and important example of the cultural bond between Israel and Europe, and of the type of artistic cooperation that both parties often engage in for the benefit of all in Israel and in Europe. It also showed solidarity with a cultural sector struggling under the impact of the corona crisis. This event has also promoted dialogue and tools to support the promotion of culture, which is necessary for economy and growth.

Among the projects that were on display: a house on the tree by the artist Hillel Roman on Rothschild Boulevard, a poster campaign (NO) by the Spanish artist Santiago Sierra on Allenby Street, a telescope by the artists Noa Gross and Uri Noam on Bialik / Allenby Street, a cruising maze by the Greek artist Andreas Angelidis in Gan Meir, Sound Work - Good Animals / Bad Animals by the artist Uri Aran in Gan Yaakov and a bicycle bell tower by the Dutch artist Sil Carroll.

In addition, about 6 special projects in the public space, community centers and schools were presented, including: "Painters Out" - a professional outdoor painting marathon in Hahurshot Park in collaboration with the Midrasha Gallery - Hayarkon 19, "Advanced Culture - Political Cabaret" In Israel, at the initiative of Studio-Bank, the launch of the year of artistic activity at the GRA Community Center, an exhibition of children's works at the Frankfurt House, "Yard Game" - works of art in schoolyards, guided tours for groups, and unique activities for children.
The European Union has partnered with 10 European cultural institutes and embassies based in Tel Aviv to invite European artists to showcase their work in the streets of the city and produce the European edition of "Loving Art, Making Art" with the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo. The event was also instrumental in providing artists with resources and venues to continue showcasing their works, at a time when the art world is extremely limited due to COVID-19 regulations.
EU ambassador to Israel, Emanuele Giaufret: "The European Union is delighted to have found a way to ‘open the skies’ between Europe and Israel, as well as support the crucial role the cultural sector plays in our societies. The connections between the EU and Israel in culture and arts are a bedrock of our relationship, and we will stand behind them."
