The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through 145 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to the State of Israel in Tel Aviv works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the Israeli government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit.
We offer
A two-year contract extendable (up to seven years) for the post of Project Officer (Local Agent Group 1) in the Delegation’s Cooperation Section. The team consists of five colleagues.
Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Project Officer – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function, the successful candidate will serve as support staff to the Head of Cooperation in the fulfilment of his/her tasks as regards the project management of the Delegation in accordance with existing rules and regulations. He/she will provide Management of the project and programmes, including ensuring on time contracting and payments, launching of calls for proposals, calls for tenders, on the field monitoring of projects, regular meetings with beneficiaries, forecasting payments, risk assessments, etc…
Following main tasks and duties are currently required:
- Travel on the field for project monitoring as much as required and to Brussels/ Europe to any meeting/ conference approved by Head of Section
- Participate in any meeting related to area of expertise, as defined by the Head of Section
- Contribution to relevant reports of the Delegation including Management and Policy Reporting as well as Delegation's annual communication plan
- Contribute to briefings in the area of expertise of the project portfolio
- Contribute to draft news, success stories, case studies with positive communication potential for the Delegation
- Support the other project officers in the implementation of the communication priorities and in the revision of project communication plans
- Back-up a the other project officers in case of absence or temporary heavy workload
- Engagement with portfolio relevant stakeholders in Israel and abroad
The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from ILS 21,776. There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan.
The expected start date will be 15st December 2025.
Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)
- Completed Master Degree;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing the above mentioned tasks;

Fluent in Hebrew and English (speaking, reading, writing);

An Israeli citizenship or a valid work permit for Israel;

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite;

Self-starter, motivated, ability to work alone and/or in a team, respecting deadlines, ability to deal with stress situations, high degree of responsibility and discretion in handling financial and contractual matters, very good oral and written communication skills, drafting (in English) ability, quick problem solving and solution orientation.
Assets / selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant)
- Knowledge of Arabic language;
- Knowledge of European Commission internal applications;
- Experience in working with Civil society in Israel.
