We are

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to Israel is one of those 143 delegations. Its mandate includes promoting the political and economic relations between Israel and the European Union, monitoring the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Israel; informing the public of the EU-Israel relations, explaining and promoting EU policies and participating in the implementation of the European Union's cooperation programs. The Operations section (OPS) is the team in charge of the cooperation with Israeli ministries and with the civil society in Israel through programming, funding, implementing and coordinating numerous programs and projects (ex: Twinning, Taiex, Civil Society, Erasmus, Human Rights and Democracy, Peace Building, Local Authorities, etc…).

We offer a post of Project Assistant in the Operations Section of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Project Assistant.  This job function may change in accordance with the needs of the Delegation.  

Under the supervision and responsibility of the relevant Head of Section, the selected candidate will serve as a support person to the successful implementation of the EU-funded programs and projects, as well as on supporting the implementation of the European Commission's communication priorities.

The vacancy is an opportunity for a motivated and proactive candidate to provide operational and logistical support to the section. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in an international environment, be well organized, service-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines and pressure. Additionally, the position requires a resourceful person who demonstrates an extensive ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism at all times. The candidate must have very good drafting and communication skills in English and Hebrew, especially for external communication purposes (on-line and off line media). The candidate will be required to attain quickly competency with the European Union’s administrative procedures and IT tools.

Functions and duties

The successful candidate will perform the following tasks under the supervision and responsibility of the relevant Head of Section. He/she shall provide operational and logistical support to the Operations section, especially the following duties:

  • Administrative support in the management of the EU-funded contracts (preparation of files, relations with beneficiaries, update of excel sheets tables, etc…)
  • Support to the communication and visibility tasks of the section (drafting of short communication texts for the web and social media, database of project photos, etc.)
  • Logistics of external and internal events (organise meetings, take and draft minutes, dispatch of documents, invitations, etc…)
  • Information gathering on the sectors of interest for the section
  • Other activities in the interest of the service as required

Eligibility criteria:

Minimum requirements:

  • Secondary education and a relevant vocational qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge through extensive professional experience
  • Fluent in Hebrew and English (speaking, reading, writing)- level C1- C2
  • 5 years' experience as project assistant or in similar duties
  • Capacity to work on different IT tools as end user, including Excel tables
  • Proven experience of social media environment and related writing/communication skills
  • An Israeli citizenship or a valid work permit for Israel
  • Proactive, team player, ready to assist others, organizational skills flexibility in response tointernal and external changes.


  • Competency in Arabic and/ or in other EU languages.
  • Knowledge of the European Union
  • University degree or an equivalent

The procedure


Applications received after the deadline will be automatically rejected. After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered the most suitable for the post based on a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase, which will consist of an interview and at least one written test.


The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
